A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature
Action, comedy, romance, drama, sci-fi,
antagonist, protagonist, you name it and he’s done it. Akshay Kumar is probably
the only superstar who has given mass masala entertainers as well as
character-oriented movies to his audience. The actor has had 11 straight hits
to his credit since 2019, with three films in 2019 itself- Kesari, Mission
Mangal and Housefull 4. Most of his movies make it into the 100+ crore club
within a few weeks of release. Whether it’s Housefull 3 movie or Toilet
Ek Prem Katha, the actor is constantly reinventing himself and offering
something new to his fans. Also, most of his films are family entertainers,
which is what works amazingly well for his films. Though, he’s been doing a lot
of movies with a social message attached to them, the inclusion of Housefull 3 film in his career graph,
only goes on to prove that the versatile actor is not shying away from breaking
the pattern.
Let’s review two of Akshay’s highest grossing
films in the past couple of years - Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Housefull 3.
Toilet
Ek Prem Katha is the story of Keshav (Akhay
Kumar) and Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) whose marriage is on the verge of a break-up
because Keshav’s house doesn’t have a toilet. This film, made at a budget of Rs
24 crore, garnered more than Rs 118 crore at the ticket window. Directed
by Shree Narayan Singh, the film’s focuses on the problem of open defecation in
India through a humorous tale.
If you plan to watch Toilet EkPrem Katha online, you’d enjoy it for the following
reasons:
1. Social issue: The film has a strong social message that clearly picks from
Prime minister Narendra Modi's campaign of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. In that
sense, Toilet EkPrem Katha is quite clearly not a typical Bollywood film, but
has a larger message to convey.
2. Local humour: The film includes a lot of hinterland humour that
appealed to the masses.
3. Patriotism element: The element of patriotism in Akshay Kumar's recent films such
as Airlift, Rustom and Baby could not be missed. This film carries a similar
vibe. The performances of the supporting star cast are phenomenal, too.
Housefull
3 movie on the other hand, is an
out-and-out, masala comedy flick which encourages viewers to leave their brains
behind. While the highlight of the entire Housefull franchise lies in its
ensemble star cast, Akshay Kumar stole the show with this comic timing and
energy. He does more than contorting his face, and actually makes quite an
impact with his performance, as Sandy and Sundi. If you watch Housefull 3 movie online, you may find quite a lot of funny moments in the film where his acting prowess
comes to the limelight. Let’s just keep aside the racist and sexist jokes in
this movie though.
Our
verdict? Well, considering the fact that the genre and plot of both the movies
were so different, Akshay Kumar aced both the roles equally well. So, which
