A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature

In the world of the movies, every actor, director, storyteller, writer, cinematographer anxiously awaits the golden statue. As movie lovers, we wait with bated breath to know who all have made the final cut. Now that the nominations are out, here is a list of Oscar nominated Netflix Originals you can stream right away. What better time to sit back, relax, and catch up on these Oscar nominated titles on Netflix.

1. Mudbound

A brilliant American period drama that tells the story of two World War II veterans, and their life post war has not only impressed fans and critics alike, but has also picked up multiple nods by the Academy. Mary J Blige has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and for Best Original Song. Not only that but Mudbound created history when Rachel Morrison got nominated for an Oscar in Cinematography, thus being the first woman to break that ceiling.

2. Heroin(e)

A story unlike any other. Three women – a fire chief, a judge, and street missionary, are up in arms against the opioid epidemic taking over America. Nominated for Best Documentary Short, this is a story of women who are determined to save lives, come what may.

3. Icarus

Perhaps the biggest malady that follows the world of sport is doping. This particular runner in the category of Best Documentary captures one man’s attempt to uncover what may perhaps be the biggest doping scandal ever, in the world of sports.

4. Strong Island

Not one but two contenders from Netflix for the Best Documentary. All it takes is one mishap for life to go awry. Or in case of Yance Ford, it was the bullet that took his brother’s life. Amidst grief and racial tensions, a family longs to achieve justice.
