India-based American film producer/entrepreneur selected by IFFI to showcase innovations at Tech Media Startup Exhibition

A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature




Afghan-American creative producer/entrepreneur Mithaq Kazimi is among 14 personalities selected to showcase innovative projects that merge technology and media at the 2017 Tech Media Startup Exhibition in Goa.

The exhibition is organized by the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in conjunction with National Institution for Transforming India.

Mithaq Kazimi, alongside other 13 budding entrepreneurs, has been selected after a competitive process between startups with innovative solutions in AR, VR, Gaming, AI, Robotics, and IoT space.


Mithaq Kazimi came to India in 2015 to co-launch World Is One News (WION) for Zee Network, heading distribution and engagement as a Managing Producer. He also created a number of web properties such as a series of viral videos for social media and interactive news reporting using live streaming.

Currently, Kazimi is the Editor-in-Chief of Josh Talks, an online platform that captures and shares inspiring stories with some 20m audience and slated as “India Top 50 Startups” by Economic Times.

Some of the media-tech projects Mithaq Kazimi will showcase at the exhibition are:

  • Virtual Reality (VR) films such as Myths, Meditation & Mountains
  • Josh Talks, merging offline and online inspirational content creation and distribution
  • CrowdingIt.com, a platform for democratizing entry into the film industry with a script and clients such as Saregama films.

A platform funded by US-based Boomtown accelerator that enabled the distribution of iconic filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s film in North American theaters.

Besides the 5,000 registered festival delegates, the Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada and a line-up of investors will be attending the expo which is to be held on Nov 26, 2017 in Entertainment Society of Goa.
