A Potpourri of Vestiges Feature
Superstar Aamir Khan recently took to twitter to unveil the trailer of his highly anticipated film Dangal. And once again Aamir Khan manages to surprise us with his commitment to his art. The trailer presents us with three completely different looking Aamirs. We see a middle-aged Aamir, an elderly Aamir and a young Aamir. Aamir is not playing three different characters in Dangal but only one, that of Wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. But we will get to see him essay the different phases of the veteran wrestler's life. And, Aamir is simply not the one to disappoint. Not only does he look convincing playing Phogat but he also succeeds in defying the age barriers as pretty obvious from the rushes.
Dangal appears to be effectively wrapping the elements of a family drama, a sports movie, and a biopic into one. The themes of love, sacrifice and patriotism are at the very core of Dangal. The movie also delivers a powerful message of gender equality, with Aamir's Phogat emphatically asserting: "You think our girls any lesser than boys?"
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, and Suhani Bhatnagar. The official release date is 23rd December 2016.
