The word 'Queen' (translated to 'Rani' in Hindi) has certainly become synonymous with the leading Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut‬. After ‪‎Queen (2014)‬ and ‪‎Revolver Rani (2014)‬, Kangana looks all set to essay the role of ‪‎Rani Laxmi Bai‬ in Ketan Mehta's next film. This comes after the unprecedented success of Anand Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) with Nikhil Advani's Katti Batti scheduled to release in September.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the film would be Mehta's follow up to 2005 film Mangal Pandey, starring Aamir Khan in the titular role, and is perceived as the second installment in his proposed "The Rising" trilogy. The film is going to be an Indo-British production and is also expected to star ‪‎Hugh Grant‬ in a major role.

Like it has become a norm with Kangana these days, she will once again be attending special workshops to prepare for the role, only this time around it would involve intense training in horse riding, sword-fighting and other warfare skills.

According to the report, Kangana not only loved the movie's script but also seemed impressed with the rigorous research that has gone into it, The film will be shot simultaneously in both Hindi and English and is expected to be complete by mid next year.
