101 films dealing with the themes of solitude, loneliness, and isolation

101 films dealing loneliness, solitude, isolation, film collage

It has taken me quite some time to compile this list. I must thank all my readers for their valuable suggestions without which compiling this list would have been impossible.

Actually, it all started a few weeks back when a friend on facebook prompted me to suggest my favorite films dealing with solitude, loneliness, and isolation. And, with nothing but my own inchoate thoughts and savory vestiges of all things cinema, I started working on it. Voila! In a matter of minutes, I came up with a list of 51 films which I thought were quite relevant to the themes of solitude and detachment.
As soon as I shared the same on my facebook timeline, the responses started pouring in from all sides. It didn't take me long to realize that I needed to come up with a more exhaustive list to placate one and all.

After a lot of contemplation, I have come up with a compilation of 100 films from across the globe. Now, it may not satisfy everyone (after all, we all have different tastes and besides, I have so many more movies to watch) and so I hope that each and everyone of you assess it with utmost candor. If you have any movie recommendations then please do share the same in the comment box below.

  2. Well, you see, it's difficult to include every relevant film in Top 100. Also there are so many films that I have yet to watch. Perhaps, one day, I will come up with a more exhaustive list! :-)

  3. Nice Review. It would be nice if you review other Marathi films like Killa, Fandry, Astu, Elizabeth Ekadashi, Ek Hazaarachi Note. Marathi audience gives you that edge to make films based on different topics. Marathi films are not star driven, they are subject driven.

Only the Marathi film industry seems to have understood that subtitles are the way to go. Every new Marathi release across India has words in English beaming below the visuals even in the most rundown multiplexes.

  9. Denial with Robin Wright. Best film that always gets left out. Not sure why such an amazing story did not get the attention it deserved.
