I must confess that Jalsaghar is my favorite Ray film. All I said above was that it lacks the pristine charm of Panther Panchali... I never called iy inferior. As a matter of fact, I feel that it's highly intellectual as well as emotionally evocative. In many ways, it's antithetical to The Apu Trilogy. Again, with respect to my criticism, I am really sorry to have disappointed you (though it's one of my most popular reviews... it gets hundreds of hits everyday). I feel I have expressed my heart out in the above review... I seriously have nothing more to add. But, you are most welcome to point out the flaws that you talked about in the above comment of yours.Murtaza Alihttp://www.apotpourriofvestiges.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6279678409089205149.post-76735111321638122662014-10-02T20:46:03.793+05:302014-10-02T20:46:03.793+05:30Hi, it's nice to see Indians recognize their g...Hi, it's nice to see Indians recognize their great masters! I don't mind the way you systematically laud the film, of course I'm very partial, but the film isn't without its own flaws too - you say it doesn't reach the charm of Pather Panchali for example, but you don't really say why and how; also I felt you don't quite manage to convey what made you vibrate personally; your criticism sounds rather general. We'll, maybe you can tell us!Yves Millounoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6279678409089205149.post-52816866211945572202014-02-24T01:06:34.690+05:302014-02-24T01:06:34.690+05:30It's a masterpiece, no doubt... certainly my f...It's a masterpiece, no doubt... certainly my favorite Ray film and an all time favorite!!! :-)Murtaza Alihttp://www.apotpourriofvestiges.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6279678409089205149.post-54058470829685891442014-02-24T00:35:20.386+05:302014-02-24T00:35:20.386+05:30IMDB Rating Sucks here i am sorry to use the phras...IMDB Rating Sucks here i am sorry to use the phrase here but it really sucks one of the great works of the master.Prithwi Banerjeenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6279678409089205149.post-78968194868755854562013-08-19T18:37:11.495+05:302013-08-19T18:37:11.495+05:30Yeah... arguably, his magnum opus, but definitely ...Yeah... arguably, his magnum opus, but definitely in his top 5.
